To me, one of the best things about owning an antique Philco radio is sitting in a totally dark room at night, taking in the beauty of the dial as it illuminates the room. It has a mesmerizing quality! So I decided to start a thread for folks to show off their treasures... in the dark. Turn off the lights some evening and take a close up pic of the dial on your favorite set (keeping in mind the photo size limit here).

This photo of my 1936 model 630 is actually the lock screen on my Samsung Galaxy S III cell phone!

Here's my 47-1230 with illuminated phono compartment:

OK, you get the idea. This could become a mini museum of glowing Philcos!
Neat idea! Icon_thumbup

I only have one photo to contribute at present. This is the dial of my UK Philco 282 Empire Five tombstone:

Icon_thumbup Nice one, Ron!
I wish my camera would do clear pictures like that of glowing dials. It doesn't seem to like working without the flash and they always come out blurry. This is very cool though and I forgot the record area of the 47-1230 also lit up. Icon_smile
See later post.

Cool idea and thread! I remember being a kid and
always being attracted to and fascinated with radio
lights and the glow of vacuum tubes. And I thought
it was just me being weird but now I see others have
similar interests.

Nice shot, Bob. As darkness falls, it's the perfect time for other's to take to their cameras and show the glow!
I might also add (although it should be obvious), that you'll have to turn the flash off on your camera. And that usually means where digital cameras are concerned, you have to have an especially steady hand to capture a clear shot.
Came across this 46-420 photo on-line and it just had to be posted to this thread!
