Hi, I am restoring a basket case Hallicrafters S40A, and have discovered that the RF interstage transformer for band 1 (broadcast) has an open secondary, which is the tuned grid circuitof the 6SA7. I've checked to see if one of the solder tabs has led to a fracture of tyhe wire and it has not, so the open wire is buried in the secondary coil. Gary Brown has depleated his supply of bandswitch mid-sections of which the transformer is part. So now I contemplate winding a replacement on an Amodon Associates toroid core. Perhaps aviewer has a parted out S40A with an intact bandswitch mid-section, and if so I'd like to hear from them. Email:nq2v@arrl.net with help or suggestions.
