Philco BC resistor - Guest - 10-02-2008

I forgot to ask you a second question about my Philco 90: a section of the BC resistor in this radio has lost the enamel, so that part of its wiring is exposed. I suppose this happened after working again for some hours after being unused for so many years. My question is: should I paint it to protect the wiring? With what? Although its resistance is perfect and it works fine, I don't like to see the wiring exposed.

Thank you. Icon_rolleyes

As long as other components or wiring is not touching the exposed section, it will be ok. There is nothing you can coat the exposed section with that will probably not start heating up and maybe smoking/smelling. It's a common occurance.
