Philco 38 cathedral - kiwi_steve - 04-26-2016

Well, not so long ago I managed to buy this:

And because yellow is not one of the many miriad of shades of brown these typically left the factory with I thought I would strip it back in prep for applying a more suitable shade...  but alas, the paint was hiding a sad story...

So what to do about this?  It looks like its had an impact, cracked here at the end of the rear brace and also near the top on the other side.  It appears to have been drilled and doweled then glued and filled and then sanded smooth(ish) and painted with a mixture of mustard and glue.

My first thought was to veneer over the top - but I don't really know how to go about that.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Steve
