Philco 16B restoration - KCMike - 11-06-2016

 With the weather cooperating I decided to get this one finished. Its been sitting in the basement for 2 years.
The damage was there when I got it.

 After stripping.

 This is after some toner and 3 coats lacquer. It was darker than the picture but still not right.

 I had to order more extra dark walnut I had ran out. Little better now.

  After decal and 4 more coats lacquer. Don't know if I should just wait a few weeks and rub it out and polish or sand it again and apply more lacquer. Looks pretty good as is.

  I still have to paint the stripes on the front.

  Very good looking Greg.   These big cabinets are a lot of work , but I do enjoy it.  If I may ask ... what did you use to paint the ivory colored stripes with?

Thanks Mike. I actually used Testors gloss white and a microbrush to paint the stripes. Carefully masking the area around the stripes off using Scotch 3M 1/4 wide plastic tape. The Testors model paint 'flows' nicely in the grooves for the stripes with the microbrush.
