Stratosphere 1000Z Restoration - Phlogiston - 04-16-2017

Ladies and Guys,

I have started another Strat chassis restoration. It will take a while.

I have started a blog post with pictures, videos and such that will touch on many of the aspects that make this radio special.

Thanks guys. It will be a lot of work - again.

Updated chassis deconstruction and Allen Bradley controls.

Updates posted, variable IF, resistor kit and continued deconstruction. Almost ready for the chrome shop.

That's quite a job doing a chassis deconstruction on a 1000Z, that for documenting your process.

Your resistors look beautiful and all of your work is inspiring to all of us.  Have you documented how you make the resistors?

John

I believe Steve has thread(s) on how he makes those.
Not sure but Russ might have published his also.

I don't think that I did a video (yet) but it was explained - somewhere. Might get to that.

Yes, I know of Steve's method:

And Nathan has a similar method:

And there is a guy who molds them out of epoxy putty:

I think Russ once said he uses parts from the originals, but I don't want to derail this excellent 1000Z thread any further.

Updates on the Power/amp chassis including rebuilding the original filters.

At this point it might be usefull to reference the earlier project:

Power/Amp all done - less building a new interconnect cable.

The chassis is back from the chrome shop.

Now where do all of those parts go - - -
