Black knobs, brown knobs, 37 and 38 models? - Jim Berg - 04-30-2009

I was fixing a 38-40 set for someone, and it was missing most of the original knobs. I had a set of black knobs, but looked at most of my other Philco's and they are brown. What the deal here? I thought I would keep my brown knobs as they see to be used more often.

The particular style of knobs used in 1936 through 1940 Philco models were indeed made in two colors.

1936 models used black; 1937 through 1940 models used brown.

Thanks much Ron, that answered my question.
