Mica Cap value check - Sourbone - 03-10-2010

I'd like a little help in confirming the value on this mica cap. I think it's 3000 pfd. It's from the 1st i.f. transformer on a 41-295. Reading earlier posts suggested to me that I replace it. The value is not on the schematic or parts list since it's part of the 1st i.f. transformer. The top row of dots is not colored. The bottom row from left to right is orange, brown (no color), red. Thanks for any help.

Re: Mica Cap value check - TFB - 03-10-2010

I have a schematic for a 41-295 that clearly indicates the fixed cap in primary/plate side of the 1st IF transformer to be 3000pf. Part is not specifically included in the parts list (it is included with the IF trans - item #36). Value (3,000pf) is documented on the schematic. I suspect the color code is orange/black/red, not orange/brown/red.

Thanks a million.

"We don't need no stinkin arrows". Its odd that they painted it in direct contradiction to the arrows. I would have thought 20,000pf which is an unlikely value for a mica cap. But I fully agree that its the 3000pf as indicated by the schematic. Maybe they meant to paint the dots on the top row?

Seems like with dot micas there are more exceptions than rules.
