Index Marks - Guest - 06-22-2010

Can someone tell me what are the "index marks" that are referred to in the alignment instructions? Says to turn tuning condensor fully meshed and then set pointer at the left end of the dial to the index marks. The dial I am showing is for a 41-280 but am working on a 41-629 which has a similar markings.

I'm going to say the little horizontal dash.

On some of these sets there are index marks (scribes) on the metal back upon which the indicator moves. This is because the dial glass is not visible when the chassis is removed from the cabinet. Hope this helps.

The "brown thick dashes" within the ends of the white scale lines.
