Zenith 6B 129 conversion to 110v ac operation - radionut - 12-15-2010

Dear Sirs: I have a Zenith 6B129 6volt farm radio. It has been recapped and the tubes are good. Does any one know how to convert it to 110v ac operation? I would appreciate any help in this matter. the vibrator power supply has been disconnected and i have no idea how to perform a conversion. Thanks. Claude

Hi Claude,
You've got an interesting problem. What you will need to build is a power supply that can deliver 6VDC for the filaments, pilot lamps, the #19 tube ,and speaker field coil. Approximately 3amps. For the HV you'll need about 180vdc@40ma for the output and 160vdc@30ma for the rest of the set. It may be easier for you to get the old vibrator pak going and run it off the straight 6vdc supply or 6v car battery.
