Was there a 36-610? - n9vu - 04-02-2006

Hi folks. I recently won an Ebay auction for a Philco bullet radio. Only markings on the inside label are MODEL 610. The previous owner says it's sort of a rare 36-610 not listed in the books. Just wondering what the history of the set is and IF this is the model number. I'll need it as the set will need a new dial display. Can you say faded out numbers? Can you say wiped out numbers. LOL. Thanks, GB.

Nope, the 1936 model was just 610.

1937 was when Philco started appending the model year prefix to model numbers.

Mike Tobin at Rock Sea Enterprises can help with a very good dial replacement.

Thanks for the info.

The Model 610 is no rarer than any other 1936 radio.
Philco only manufactured approximately 81,000 of them!!

Seller must have determined it was "rare" due to the fact he was
seaching with an incorrect model number (36-610) and could find
no references . . . D'oh!

No such animal.... Icon_smile

Well fortunatly I didn't pay the "rare" price tag for the set and didn't expect it to be a "rare" item. I merely wanted a bullet type radio for my collection.

Thanks,

GB.
