I'm here, we're ok. Minimal damage here in Vieques. There's a CHANCE that we might see lights and water tomorrow. I'm on battery right now

Alive and kicking. We got water service restored today and even a bit of power this evening. Voltage is very low (~70v) so we can't save much food from the freezers that are in meltdown mode
but the laptop charger works and most of the CFLs are working fine so we can see our way around the house.Ooops. power just went off again while I was typing.

Not too bad here in NC, but I am near Raleigh. Down east and the coast got whacked.
Lots of wind/rain here, still at nearly 1600 this afternoon. Power was out from 0230 until 0630, then off and on again throughout the day. On now.....

Waiting for morning on Long Island New York. Got a real old senior citizen Oak Tree net to my bedroom that has challenged to outlive me. We shall see. If I am conductng business as usual (senile_tubic_malpractice) by Monday, the tree lost.

You might consider hedging your bets vs the tree by placing (or have someone place) an antenna at the top of the tree. From personal experience I can attest to the attraction lightning has for such devices.
(note) Do not recommend running a connection from the antenna into your house. This would dramatically increase the tree's probability of winning the bet.

It's a stalemate, the tree shed a few twigs and minor branches, and a few more grey hairs fell out of my head, and we're good to go until the next battle. The squirrels and birds who live in the tree are not rooting for me. As for an antenna up top, agreed, arsenic is quicker. There's always the kite.
