reliability of mica caps - jslim22 - 06-27-2006

I am getting varying opinions about replacing mica caps on 40-180. What is the concensus here?
Thanks Jun

Referring to the Rider schematic, I would replace capacitors numbered 22, 23 and 24. The 370 pf caps usually have drifted and cause difficulty setting the pushbuttons and also may cause drift during warmup. The 250 pf cap was bad in a restoration that I did a while back. The oscillator was stopping intermittently.

Thanks for the info. - jslim22 - 06-30-2006

I decided to replace all the caps. Cost little over $13. Might as well.
