46-1203 - rocketeer - 09-23-2012

Picked up this Philco 46-1203 at the Kutztown auction yesterday. I'm curious as to the relatively small platter. Is that normal?

it matches mine, for what that's worth. Looks to be in slightly better shape than mine, too.

Is there a groove around the edge of the top of the lid on yours? It looks to be light in color... mine's dark, but it might also just be filled with dust etc.

Nice set. I've had mine over 30 years. Yes, the turntables on Philco's automatic record changers from 1946-48 were that small. Even on the console sets.

Yes, there's a groove seperating the lighter colored large square from the darker surrounding area of the lid.

I've got one of these unit myself. It's the second one I've owned and I should dig it out and get it going.
