John (Eliot)
I also noticed that, for those of us who have put a location into our individual control panels, that the location no longer shows up under our names - but it shows if you click a member's name in a thread if he or she has added a location. I'll look into this more, but at this point I think this is just how MyBB seems to operate. Oh, and Phil, I've alrerady acquired the habit of using the "New Reply" button to type replies in threads; this shows the options, smilies, etc. As a side note, did anyone notice that there are a few more smilies now available for your use? -- Ron Ramirez Ferdinand, IN |

Ron, great work, glad everything's back up. Gotta tell you one thing, liked the original original color scheme a little better, but I can dial down the contrast on my monitor a bit. I use a 21" Trinitron, IMHO the best. You guys look happy on FB, glad for that too.

Push button - push button some more. Maybe that is why site is slow. Shared hosting is getting slower, and this appears to be the case no matter who you choose as a hosting company. If you, or anyone else, wants to kick in the $$$$ for VPS or a dedicated server, I won't complain. The site seems to be the slowest during the day, less so in the evenings and on weekends. At least I have not experienced any "General Errors" since the switch, at least on my end. My previous host used what they called "CPU throttling" which cut down on available CPU power during peak demands, resulting in the many "General Errors" experienced over the past couple of years. The new host doesn't do that, but they do limit bandwidth at times. -- Ron Ramirez Ferdinand, IN |

There's a setting for that: Have you noticed the link at the bottom of every Phorum page titled "Lite (Archive) Mode?" Click that link, and you get a stripped-down version of the Phorum without the fancy colors, backgrounds, and such. I'm using a 25 inch widescreen HP 2511x monitor here, and I really like it and the HP Pavilion HPE computer that goes with it. -- Ron Ramirez Ferdinand, IN |

RE: ...And we're back, redux.
Ron, I have Zoom Text on my computer by A I Squared. Your old forum didn't agree with it, and, your new one is worse. Alan, Video Karma, and, my little forum use phbb, and, no problem.
Yet, both your lod phbb, and, this new one, are slow, and, the page locks up when I have Zoom Test on, which I really need. I have internet set nearly as big as I can without ZT just to barely be able to read yours. What can I do to fix this, or, is there a setting you can do? Thanks. RE: ...And we're back, redux.
I still use IE8 on an aging Sony Vaio (D**n good boxes,) via Cablevision and have no problems most of the time. I run AVG and Msoft's free antivirus, and clean out the stupid stuff with Spybot once in a while, and life is good.
Although I feel a subscription basis might be considered an impurity by some hobbiests, c'mon, if you can let us all pull together. And while you're at it, try to get some younger people into the hobby. It's a good one that they can do for nearly their whole lives, we know that, they don't. I promise no more rants for at least 48 hours. |

What OS are you using (operating system, that is)? Win XP? Vista? 7? Windows 3.1? MS-DOS? I need to know. Also, what browser do you use? Which version? Most importantly, why no mention of this Zoom Text, or Zoom Test, or whatever, before? Hmmm??? Seriously...I don't get it. -- Ron Ramirez Ferdinand, IN |

RE: ...And we're back, redux.
Ron, that's Zoom Text. I have mentionned it before. I use it so I can read computer screens. I just turned it off so I could reply.
I upped page size to over 150 percent so I could see what I'm doing here. Apparently, Zoomtext doesn't agree with your version. With it turned on, my computer locks up. I didn't say I changed my mind. I still think your new forum look is great. The reason I didn't visit your old one that often is because of this same problem to a lesser degree. I have all the Java updates. I'm Running XP Pro 2003. All updates, including the latest ones yesterday. I use IE 8, which is the highest XP, and, Zoomtext will properly work with. Anyway, I'm not saying it's your system's fault. There is a discrepency in Zoomtext that doesn't agree with your system. I'm trying to find it to report it to AI Squared, the owner of the program, to see if they can come up with a patch. Bill Cahill "If it lights in the dark and leaves you with a warm glow it's tubes."
