Philco Model 33?
I found one listed on That Auction Site, and I can't find any proof of its existence whatsoever. Is it appropriate to put a listing here, even though I'm not the one selling it?

It's Canadian...eh! This is why it has the odd model number. Roughly equivalent to USA Philco Tropic 41-714. -- Ron Ramirez Ferdinand, IN |

That's the bunny. I just happened to see it and thought it was kind of cute. And, of course, I couldn't find any schematics or any such about it to prove of its existence.
Mind you, I don't have any intention of acquiring it; I'd like to get one radio fixed up before I start filling the house with Philcos. (But once I get that first one going, watch out... |

Hi Syl
The Bakelite version is a nice one. Philco also produced three Tropic versions of that one: a 115 volt AC version (41-712T); a battery operated version (41-708T); and 115/230 volt model (41-713T). The regular USA model (41-230T) only has AM and a "police" band, what a waste. And then there are two battery-operated USA models (41-90CB and 42-121CB) that are AM only. -- Ron Ramirez Ferdinand, IN |

Ron Ramirez Wrote:Hi Syl I realize I gave the multi-bands to a good friends eons ago and the one I have here is the AM band, battery set. There is a little deco style to that cabinet. The cabinet strangely has plugs over the holes used in the multi-bands version (apparenlty they share the same cabinet). It would be easy to steal a chassis from a trashed wooden set, remove the plugs and get a nice Bakelite set in the end...;o) The last one I saw on that evil auction site sold for a hefty sum. Syl |
