Denver has slaughtered over 1700 family pets
On May 9th 2005 the city of Denver enacted breed specific legislation making it illegal to own, transport or otherwise have a pit bull or any large breed dog that display the characteristics of a pit bull in the city limits of Denver proper. I have seen the heartache and tears of the families having to surrender the family pet to rescue groups so it would not be killed by the city of Denver. These dogs have done nothing wrong and yet they are on death row none the less. They are still killing family pets today. The police came to their home just last week at 3AM, banging on the door and when Gema Martinez answered they took her dog, Kane. Seems that Gema had a neighbor report that Gema had an illegal dog so the dog police came at 3 in the morning and just took the family pet. The dog wasn't running loose, didn't threaten anyone. Just had a grumpy neighbor and they called the police. You'd think the police of the city of Denver have bigger fish to fry. I wonder how many crimes were taking place while they were busy saving us from this family pet. This is just so wrong on so many levels. I've made it my mission in life to fight all Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) no matter where it's enacted. There are so many wonderful pits out there that are well socialized, trained as service dogs doing great work for society. It doesn't matter in Denver just kill them all. Help me please by signing this petition and asking all dog lovers that you may know to do the same. Hope the dog police never come to your home and take your family pet. If they can do it with Pits, what's next German Shepherds, Rots, Dobies? By the way, Gema's dog was a large bred mutt that had the audacity to have a large head which is a characteristic of a pit. I am hoping my radio friends will help. Most of all, if you do leave a comment, please be respectful.

Re: Denver has slaughtered over 1700 family pets
Compassion, freedom, and common sense are out the door when the politically correct intimidate society. Sounds like we are not as different
as we think from the central committee group-think of Marxist countries. Didn't China recently kill all the dogs in Bejing? Breed Specific Legislation to ban dogs smells just like Assault Rifle Legislation to ban semi-automatic rifles. Now if only dog lovers, gun owners, and smokers would band together we would have a sizable alliance to start putting Political Correctness back under the rock from whence it came. Not that I am holding my breath. Too many Americans value their neighbor's freedom far less than their own. Phil aka Philbert Q. Desenex - Twin Cities, MN |

I am sorry I cannot support the linked petition. When you send your signature, your are also automatically signed up with the "We Campaign", an Al Gore global
warming organization. and other "action alerts" about all kinds of left-wing issues. What a nasty scam, using beloved pets to puff up membership and mailing lists. http://www.care2.com/actionalerts/aa_list.html Take a gander at the groups and topics. Phil aka Philbert Q. Desenex - Twin Cities, MN |

Un check the freaking boxes! BTW why would right-wings need such a site? The only reason I can think of would be to CENSORED because we are not building enough bombs, taxes are too high etc. etc. JK Bill It's not what you don't know that hurts you it's what you know that's not so. |

Re: Denver has slaughtered over 1700 family pets
Do you really think right-wings don't love their pets as much as lefties? If the point of this
petition was actually to accrue signatures to save dogs in Denver, they would not link to viewpoints that half the country disagree with. The site is deceptive in that you don't see the political tie in until after you fill out the form and click next. The people marketing this site know a predictable number of petitioners will hit the large SIGN button without noticing the small checked boxes. Then the "We Campaign" and "Care2 Action Alerts" groups get to inflate their numbers with people who love dogs and may be diametrically opposed to their political positions. Phil aka Philbert Q. A person made this petition not the site. The site is left-wing because the right-wing would in general have no use for it. Saving mans best friend is one of two things the right will stand up for, the other is themselves. Do not get me wrong people must above all else stand up for themselves. But when possible people need to stand up for others and things important to survival of our earth. It seems to me as soon as a person reaches a certain point of wealth everything becomes about themselves and little else. It's just human nature I guess. Care2 is just a host for peoples causes. Some good some not so good. The sign up boxes should be unchecked by default. Or better yet not even on the same page. Just have a link to sign up page for other stuff. Re: Denver has slaughtered over 1700 family pets
Wow...I'm sorry I posted this now. I'm just trying to help some poor defenseless animals. I'm neither a right wing kook nor left wing activist, and I don't have a hidden agenda. I'm just a regular guy, sorry if I offended anyone. It wasn't intentional. Like the man said, just uncheck the boxes, good Lord. All I did was ask for some support from my radio friends. Too much to ask I guess.

Re: Denver has slaughtered over 1700 family pets
Danny, You have not offended me. Nor have I called or labeled you anything. I went to the site with the intent endorsing
your outrage of the dog ban. I am only offended by the bait-and-switch sucker play using dogs as cover. Wonder, I do not question the motives of the left in general. I believe they want what they think is best for the country. I think they are wrong, not evil. In both your posts you make disparaging generalizations about the right's motives. In a nutshell, I see our differences as the eternal tension between security and liberty. You apparently see them as the gulf between good and evil. Makes it pretty tough to have a rational argument if I have to be the advocate of selfishness. Respond if you want to. This is enough for me. Phil aka Philbert Q. Desenex - Twin Cities, MN |

Re: Denver has slaughtered over 1700 family pets
Okay, boys, I've been monitoring this thread...and I think it's time for everyone to step back, take a breath...and go admire the tubes in the back of your favorite radio.
And to keep everyone on a friendly basis here...I have, somewhat reluctantly, made an executive decision to lock this one down. -- Ron Ramirez Ferdinand, IN |
