FStephenMasek's Philco 116B restoration - funny
#1

So, Rima and I were in Yucaipa a few years with time to kill, so visited an antique/junk shop.  Word that I was looking at radios must have been transmitted, as a guy came running down the street carrying this Philco 116B, and I bought it.  Yep, I'm working on two 11-tube Philcos at the same time (the other is the 112).
There was some missing and damaged black veneer and some damaged normal walnut veneer.  I found some strips of black veneer and used some veneer salvaged from some old cabinet to make the repairs.  I also did a few glue, overlap patch, clamp firmly, sand-down repairs.  This is the current status:

The chassis was repaired before, likely in 30s-40s - the two caps in the lower right are replacements.

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.
