Cheers @ Rons B&G!!
.... Since the election is over, and colder weather is getting here, its time to fire-up all those soldering-irons and save more vintage Philcos!! ( and all the other orphan brands tube radios as well)!! My best wishes to all here at Rons B & G, nomatter if a Dem or Repub!! Were ALL here to support each other, and being "technically challenged" myself, Im buying any brand of beers you guys want tonight, as long as its "Coors Light", cause thats whats in my fridge right now!! It was on sale here today!! It was "cheap"!! Tomorrow,... "Shiner Bock" goes on sale here!! Shiners not bad, but Id rather have a good-ol fashioned orig recipe- Falstaff anyday!!
Cheers to ALL @ the B&G !! Beers up!! |

Re: Cheers @ Rons B&G!!
Thanks, Tex!
That reminds me...I have some original style Lemp's Falstaff, er, Heineken, in my fridge now...but am nearly out and need to restock! Your words are very true, too, Tex. No matter which candidate any of us supported in the election (or if your choice was "none of the above" as with me), it's over already...let us move on and make the best of it. Pass the Coors Light, please... -- Ron Ramirez Ferdinand, IN |

And, on this day, Lest We Forget... here's to the men and women who gave to their countries. All gave some; some gave all.

Re: Cheers @ Rons B&G!!
... tonight, on the way home from work, I bought a cold 6-pk of Lone Star Beer on sale just to see if they ever improved over the yrs. Phew!!, bad taste,...still lousy Beer!! Dont ever be fooled by that San Antonio brewery!!! Glad it was cheap!! I can pour the rest out , and use the aluminum cans to make impromptu "tube shields" when needed!! (hee hee) I never realized just how good Coors Light really was until I got fooled again!! Lordy Mercy!!Go Lemps!!

Texasrocker Wrote:I never realized just how good Coors Light really was Thats sad, Tex. "Coo-lye" might be the biggest seller here in PR even though we have a passable local beer, Medalla. Coo-lye wins great favor here because of the 8 ounce cans which means you can actually finish one before it gets too warm. When confronted with regular sized cans most of the locals will (legitimately) grumble about how bad they are I think there is a Truth In Labeling law in force...I don't know how Coors Light is able to slip around that and call it 'beer'. |

Re: Cheers @ Rons B&G!!
Hey Tex...
Don't dump out the Lone Star. If you have a problem with snails or slugs in your garden, pour some LS into a shallow dish and set it on the ground. Take a couple of rocks and place them around the dish in such a way that you can set a large flat rock over the top of the dish that will keep armadilloes, cats, dogs etc. out but still allow the snails/slugs in. They love beer, will sniff it out, climb into/onto the dish, drink the beer, pass out, and drown. Kid ya not! If the slugs and snails don't touch the Lone Star, then, my friend, you are dealing with a truly lousy beer. (They won't touch Red Dog, either.) |

Re: Cheers @ Rons B&G!!
Yea D.A.! I thought of that idea myself. However, that bad Lone Star Beer poured-out on the ground would attract termites??!!Reckon?? (hee hee) ,.. & I might not be able to plant anything there for years in the same spot!! (hee hee) I sure appreciate all you guys putting up with a old die-hard republican!!! The last time I tasted a beer as bad as Lone Star,.. was called "Olympia"!! If you ever see that stuff on sale, pass-it-up too!!! Both are very similar!!Both brands might be good mesquito-repellent but I havent tried!! If I were in PR, I would be looking for "Red Stripe" Beer on sale indeed!! That beer is the real-deal !!

Re: Cheers @ Rons B&G!!
Oh, man. I haven't thought about Olympia Beer in years. I don't think it's still in production. They did have good marketing campaigns, though. Olympia had the Artesians (who knew about the water); Lone Star had its Armadillo. Good times!

Re: Cheers @ Rons B&G!!
Y'know, I find this phorum to be quite pleasant to read. Regardless of our politics or personal beliefs, we all seem to have a common goal: trade parts of old radios back and forth, to see just how many old Philcos we can put back on line. Here's to us.

Texasrocker Wrote:If I were in PR, I would be looking for "Red Stripe" Beer on sale indeed!! That beer is the real-deal !! Its often available here but kinda pricy. Of course beer here tends to be pricy anyway due to the taxes. No 3.99 six-packs here. Even Medalla is about 4.50-5.00. The good side is that most of the local hangouts only charge 1.25 or 1.50 I think the best beer in the region is Presidente from the Dominican Republic. No relation to 'El Presidente' from Mexico. Salud! |

Re: Cheers @ Rons B&G!!
You bet D.A!! Cheers!!.,,although we all see things differently politically-speaking, those political issues never come between any of our "friendships" here on these forums! Period!! Im just a ol-fart worn out- republican ( most here know that by now), but all my Philco-Phriends here mean the world to me!! If it werent for ALL you guys, ( nomatter of political-preferences),.. vintage Philcos wouldnt be restored, & "beer-sales" would suffer Worldwide!!! Now "that" is something ALL us can come-together on indeed!!?? Nothing beats listening to a fully-restored vintage Philco & sippin on a cold-beer at the same time!! However, if Nanci Pelosi ever shows up at my vintage radio workbench,I will be "bipartisen" enough, to show her the "art" of dis-charging a filter cap in a ac/dc chassis by hand. It may help her hair-do & braincell count as well? "Jus Kidding"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
exray, you be "rockin" in PR indeed!! Beer prices may be higher, but the weather is worth it!! Send us some "temp" reports here in Feb!! (hee hee)Ol Tex isnt far enough south yet!! Once I retire, that may change. Cheers to ALL at Rons B & G !!! Keep those vintage Philcos working!!Beers Up!! |
