Someone needs to inform Al Gore that his missing "massive ice cap" ( similar in size to a small continent) has been found!
According to Fox News Channel a few days ago, scientists & observers found Gores "missing-link" to global warming issues floating around at sea in other massive-larger chunks originally split from point-of-origin. Scientists "matched up" the original "crack", and decided Gore & Clonies must be on "crack" also!
Lordy mercy, what were all those huge "Global Warming Awareness Concerts" held for !!? Hopefully Al Gore will hear about this and tell Bono, lead singer of band U2 , Sting, & Bruce Springsteen everythings really OK, & that he made a mistake? ( hee hee)
Did any of you "mid-westerners" in the northern US States notice any "global-warming" issues the past few months? What a "crock" of you know what!!

Don't forget that a defective sensor which had been showing sea water where ice exists was recent found.

There is a big anti-"global warming" conference organized by the Heartland institute in New York March 8 to 10. I had wanted to go, but am busy with work (better to make money than spend money), and my wife does not want to go to NYC in March.

I understand that over the past couple of extremely cold winters (in both the US and Yurp) along with the failure to meet hurricane predictions in Florida, the phenomenon has been renamed "Climate Change". The Climate Change experts use the same data to account for all extreme weather conditions...just like people used to do with the Moon.

Clear Thinking on Global Warming

Many people write sensible things about anthropogenic global warming, but I find Professor William Happer's statement to the US Senate on February 25, 2009, especially clear and convincing .

Happer is the Cyrus Fogg Bracket Professor of Physics at Princeton University. He was also the Director of Energy Research at DOE from 1990-93, where he supervised all of DOE's work on climate change. He says this:

"The climate is warming and CO2 is increasing. Doesn't this prove that CO2 is causing global warming through the greenhouse effect? No, the current warming period began about 1800 at the end of the little ice age, long before there was an appreciable increase of CO2. There have been similar and even larger warmings several times in the 10,000 years since the end of the last ice age. These earlier warmings clearly had nothing to do with the combustion of fossil fuels. The current warming also seems to be due mostly to natural causes, not to increasing levels of carbon dioxide. Over the past ten years there has been no global warming, and in fact a slight cooling. This is not at all what was predicted by the IPCC models."


He explains the "bit player" role that CO2 plays in greenhouse warming. Even if doubled, CO2 in the atmosphere would increase global temperatures "on the order of one degree," all else equal, and that would be about as much as it could ever increase it.

He explains that not all else is equal. He explains that satellite measurements indicate that water vapor and clouds, which account for 90% of greenhouse warming, have a negative feedback with CO2 levels, thus counteracting most or all of the warming effects of CO2.

He explains that temperatures have been warmer in the past and undergo cycles, counter to the "hockey stick" graph trumpeted in the third report of the IPCC. The hockey stick

"was the result of incorrect handling of proxy temperature records and incorrect statistical analysis. There really was a little ice age and there really was a medieval warm period that was as warm or warmer than today. I bring up the hockey stick as a particularly clear example that the IPCC summaries for policy makers are not dispassionate statements of the facts of climate change."


He explains how ice core observations show that historical temperatures and CO2 levels are indeed correlated, but that temperature increases preceded the CO2 increases - by "about 800 years", thus indicating that warming causes increased CO2 and not vice versa.

He explains how erroneous computer models are.

"It is true that climate models use increasingly capable and increasingly expensive computers. But their predictions have not been very good. For example, none of them predicted the lack of warming that we have experienced during the past ten years. All the models assume the water feedback is positive, while satellite observations suggest that the feedback is zero or negative."


On sea level rise,

"The sea level is indeed rising, just as it has for the past 20,000 years since the end of the last ice age. Fairly accurate measurements of sea level have been available since about 1800. These measurements show no sign of any acceleration."


He explains that CO2, and higher concentrations of it in the atmosphere, are actually good for us. "Crop yields will continue to increase as CO2 levels go up... moderate warming is an overall benefit to mankind because of higher agricultural yields and many other reasons."

And finally, he shoots down the supposed "scientific consensus" on global warming. For one, consensus is not the way science works. And two, there is no consensus.

His statement is truly scientific. Not because he is a credentialed scientist, but because he uses physical observations to support or falsify hypotheses. Unlike so many other statements on climate change (e.g., any statement from Al Gore or NASA's James Hansen), you can follow his reasoning and it makes sense.

Keep his testimony in your hip pocket, for the next time you are called a "denier."

Ice does and should break up, if it did not then there would not be a Northwest Passage. Every spring it thaws and breaks up over the summer months, every winter it ices over. It is abnormal for the ice sheet not to break up at least for a few months, it was one of these abnormal periods that doomed John Franklin's expedition during the 1840s, there were three years where there was no thaw. I think that it is the height of vanity to suggest that there is anything that man could do either way to effect the weather or climate, and isn't it interesting that the solution is always the same for every so called problem, bigger and more powerful government? The climate was changing before man walked this Earth and will continue to do so after he has left.

Agreed Uffda! Thanks for posting that. The truth is, the "liberal nuts" need another reason called "global warming" to throw money at. We had a unusually warm week here in Tx last week for Feb 2009. It was over 90 degrees one day which is high for this time of yr in Feb. According to the National Weather Service records, last weeks higher temp here ( on the same month/day in recorded history) beat the 1902 record by 2 degrees farenheit!! Those that seek leftist news reports, can sure find their L-one-sided biased news views info on such NPR shows as " all things considered" ,etc. About the only thing more laughable & entertaining on NPR is listening to click & clack "the tappitt brothers" giving out free auto repair advise, or listening to some good ol Blues Music from yesteryears. NPR sure isnt a reliable source for "real" news at all, but I know lots of folks are easily fooled by listening to NPRs no "balance" of fair and real news issues, and fall for the " all things considered" one-sided L news rhetoric! Thats the reason the NPR type leftist- DJs such as Al Franken cant make-a-go of broadcasting on the AM airwaves, because the general-public isnt as easily fooled. This last election was alot "closer" than reported by all the L wingers news such as NBC,CBS,MSNBC, & NPR radio that reported a run-away vote for the new messiah!
The L- wing news-listeners find their new US broadcasts "stimulous-package-thrills" in strange-things such as, "funny-feelings running up Chris Matthews legs", & Nancy Pelosi doing the "jump-up & clap" routines everytime the new messiah speaks. Ask any young-voters "man on the street" in NYC why they voted for Obama, and all they can say is for "change"??!! Ask the same person if they can tell you the name of the new vice-pres (Biden), and they dont even know his name at all!That should tell all us the "change" many voted for, didnt even realize what they voted-for in reality. Thats "scary" at best, but these folks flocked to the polls like sheep for a "popular" young Pres with no-clue how to ante-up on his campaign promises at all, muchless Al Gore & his L wingers scientific friends proving anything of "worth" to be of real worth "news"!
