VICTORY! 41-290
#1

Thanks to all who helped me with this. The 41-290 works! In fact, it is quite a remarkable player with a whole lot of audio power that the speaker can't take. Great sensitivity and selectivity. I am a amazed how well these old radios play. Makes me think I should go back and recap everything in my 41-280. I sent it to a guy to just get it working and he did. He didn't repcap the whole thing though and kept the ones that were ok just to get it to play. If I go back into it and replace all the old cpaps and elec caps, do you think it will play better?

Again, thanks for everyone's assistance.

Congratulations on a job well done! Icon_smile

Regarding your 41-280 - It will definitely benefit from having all of its paper and electrolytic capacitors replaced, as well as any off-tolerance resistors. Your 41-280 will thank you for it; yes, it will certainly play better and keep playing well longer. In fact it should work just as well as your 41-290 now does, as the two chassis are nearly identical (the 290 has two extra tubes, but the circuitry is nearly the same).
