Well, Hate to bore you guys with the mundane, but to me, 55 years is certainly cause to celebrate, sooooo, here's a tribute to my folks on this, their 55th wedding anniversary!

Re: What were you doing on January 19th 1956?
Pictured above is my dad in 1940. He doesn't remember the trip the car or the lake, but after me and him did some searching, we both agreed that the car is a 1935 Chevy, and I must say is super cool! My Grandad had awesome taste in cars! We could not however identify the lake with the sail boat in the background. My dad slightly remembers a trip to Colorado, but unsure. Anyone have ideas?

This is my Mama at their first apartment in Maine. My dad had just joined the navy in 1955.

Well, I'm at least grateful to have my folks still together and around. In fact it makes my downright proud guys. Happy happy toy joy for me!

I was 4 years and 10 months away from coming into this world. The pictures are great! It's really a reminder of how much things have changed. Thanks for sharing.

Re: What were you doing on January 19th 1956?
Your mother looked very young in 1955. Photos from the past are very neat to see. As Glenn said, thanks for sharing.
As I mentioned on the first page, I didn't make the scene until 1960. The Hallicrafters S-38D is a neat little set. -- Ron Ramirez Ferdinand, IN |

Re: What were you doing on January 19th 1956?
That last picture of my mom next to the Hali cracks me up. She's all young and happy! I have another picture from the early 1960s with my 2 older brothers by her side probably around 6 to 8 years old and my mom is a bit tense looking. Then another photo from the early 1970s with me by her side at around 9 years old, and mama looks a bit pissed off and a bit more haggard!

Re: What were you doing on January 19th 1956?
No, a year further into my "golden years." I will say that whomever it was that started saying all that poop about old age and golden years and dignity, and ad nauseum, should should be kicked square in the _____ (same word that describes the objects pitchers throw to batters).
Old age is NOT for sissies, my fellow Phorum readers. And now, I shall go outside and smoke a cigarette, which is weird because I don't smoke. Color me irrascible Tom |

Re: What were you doing on January 19th 1956?
My wife is 65 with a chronic illness. They put her on a new medication and I spent the night with her by the toilet. I see it first hand and yeah.....I don't know what you call it, but it ain't the golden years that's for sure.
