big Philco ad
A few years ago I saw an ad from the early 30's that represented a display at some very big trade show or promo of some kind, there was a prop of a giant Philco console radio and a lady was standing on a stepladder (or was it stairs) to reach the dial. Anyone know where to find it? I thought it was on the 'net somewhere...

Re: big Philco ad
I own the original photo, but when it was up for auction on eBay (where I purchased it), many people copied the picture and distributed it widely.

You can see a copy which I scanned and put in my site's History section by following this link:

http://www.philcoradio.com/history/hist3.htm

Scroll about halfway down the page to see it.

Oh, and that was no prop - it was a working radio. Read the text of the page linked above.

Re: big Philco ad
Hi,

I've been meaning to post the following links since I first saw this thread, so here goes. They are to three newspaper ads showing examples of the Jumbo model 95 highboy. Gives some interesting stats on the set plus shows that it (they) were truly moved them around from place to place.

The quality is not the best, but the resolution is good if you expand the views.

I also found a number of other smaller ads simply announcing where Jumbo Philcos were scheduled to appear and on what dates.

Hi Paul

Great ads! Where do you find this stuff? Until now I never knew Philco had a 1929 "Jumbo Set" - I was only familiar with the 1930 version.

Thanks very much for sharing! Icon_smile
