Re: radio banter
Hi,

Radio Banter is simply a gateway for Newsgroup/Usenet access. Google Groups does the same thing but doesn't provide access to the 'binary' groups, ie those that include photos, recordings, etc.

As I understand it, quite a few news servers block posts coming from the Radio Banter portal and ones like it.

I participate in several radio related groups. Unfortunately some Usenet newsgroups are really dying off since many ISPs have dropped free access and newer folks don't realize it even exists. There are over 100,000 groups...many are just garbage or porn but its one of the best sources for downloading things like OTR (Old Time Radio) programs and such.

Its kind of 'old hat' technology that has been left for dead by better forums (such as this one). But at the same time I know guys who don't like the webpage based forums and refuse to move up from Usenet. Go figure.

I just sent a photo of a Philco 366 with your name in the title. Let me know if you see it in alt.binaries.pictures.radio. It often takes a long time for usenet posts to circle around Icon_smile

Re: radio banter
Yupp. its a good source for UK oriented info. Radiomuseum.org also has a good forum for continental European radios.

So did you see the photos I posted? Sometimes it takes several days using Radio Banter for them to show up. I'm kind of curious how long it takes a RB user to see them.

Hi, glad the pictures came thru. That's a Canadian version of the US model 66 that I fixed up a few years ago.

See ya,
