Re: Happy big 50 Ron
You mean you share my birthday? Well great. May your filament burn long and strong, and your getter remain bright, and your vacuum never fail. Or you not in fact a tube?
All the best Bill |

Re: Happy big 50 Ron
It seems to me that in the earlier days of the internet it was mostly kids and geeks. I remember one well-known collector claiming that "real antique radio collectors do not use the internet". haha.
Now it seems we Old Farts outnumber the Wet-Behind-The-Ears kids Old Ron, Codefox, you aren't over the hill yet. Just wait until forgetting to zip up becomes the norm. -Old Bill (only 57..I think) |

Happy birthday to all you young pups. Enjoy your fifties and don't fret the upcoming sixties. So far they aren't as bad as advertised.

Re: Happy big 50 Ron
Ditto to the coment that Ufffda made. I was amazed at the young age of you guys. I'm creeping up on 73 in August and it seems that my doctor and I see each other more often than before. But it is still a great life with a wonderful wife, trips to England and the constant search for an old radio. Picked up two more Philcos this past month. My wife even went with me to pick up a Model 87 highboy since this one has house rights when it is running.

Re: Happy big 50 Ron
Happy Birthday Ron Ramirez!! Im 58 this yr in October, and I would bet both you & I can agree on this topic?.. We have all learned from our elders & by reading lots of vintage electronics books in days past. That that being said, my "hats off" and much respect to all our elders that participate here, & give needed guidance to all vintage Radio repair enthusiasts older than some of us here on these forums. Age is nothing more than numbers in years !!,... the desire to restore vintage tube type technology is still living in all these forum threads avail online from many sources these days. The best thing about restoring tube type equip is "sharing" the knowledge amongst us all , to keep the younger generations interested in keeping this hobby we all enjoy moving into the future online. Even the best tube era electronics Techs can still "learn" something new every day! Thats what makes this hobby fun! Heck, there used to be many tube mfgrs right here in the USA many yrs ago, that would include schematics for different particular circuits boxed within the tube boxes . Those days are gone unfortunately, but I remember them well, & just how important forums such as this is to younger generations following.
Happy Birthday again Ron & Philco Radios website!!,.... and for all my elders here, mucho Respect from ol Tex!! VIAGRA from Texas!! ... puts lead back in the ol soldering iron if needed! Keep those vintage Philcos workin! |

Re: Happy big 50 Ron
Thanks again for all of the well wishes.
My wife, Debbie, and the good folks of the Music City (Nashville) Vintage Radio Club helped make this birthday the best one of my adult life! At the Nashville meet on Saturday, April 17, I was surprised at the end of the auction with a birthday cake and lunch, as well as a very neat little novelty transistor radio which looks like a small milk carton. I want to publicly thank the club for the surprise and the lunch, Gary Rabbitt for the cake, and Radiopup & Marty for the novelty radio. All of you are wonderful people and I will always remember your kindness! See, there is a reason why I've been telling people for years now that the Nashville club is the friendliest vintage radio club in America! -- Ron Ramirez Ferdinand, IN |
