New to the Phorum
Hi there, everyone! I am new to the Phorum here and want to introduce myself. When I first started into antique radios about 10 years ago, I was not a Philco fan. I was one of the types who wanted Zenith radios and fancy radios, mentally putting Philcos at the bottom of the heap. Then I got a Philco 42-322 for $10 at a local flea market that is still working on its original capacitors and electrolytics. After that, things kinda snowballed. In the past two years my Philco collection has grown to 19 radios, far outnumbering the other makes in my collection. The prices of Zenith radios have turned me off and every time I look for a Zenith, I come home with a Philco! Icon_lol I'm not a technical wizz and refer my repairs to a friend who used to do antique radio repairs for a living, so some stuff is definitely greek to me! Still, I hope to share what I can about my radios here and perhaps learn some things as well. Icon_smile

Welcome to the Phorum! There's plenty of knowledge around here, I've learned alot from some of the best technicians / restorers in the world. If the experts here can't answer your radio questions, you may as well just throw it away because it can't be fixed. Icon_biggrin

Welcome Jayce. I'm no tech whiz either but this is sure the right place to learn the ins and outs of Philcos.

Re: New to the Phorum
Thanks for the welcomes! Icon_biggrin I will definitely enjoy the Phorum here. Hopefully I will have pictures of my Philcos soon, though trying to get them all in one picture might be hard, but impressive! I have two goals for future Philcos. One is to find either a 37-116 or 38-116 that I can afford, two is to find a Philco 38-690. But, that might just stay a dream with my budget! Icon_lol I will need another trailer soon as I am also getting a few classic arcade games.

Indeed, welcome, Jayce. Sounds like you got "the bug".

Welcome aboard, Jayce!

I have an empty 38-116X cabinet you can have for FREE, but you have to pick it up. Come get it, and give this cabinet a good home!

Yeah, I got the radio bug a little over 10 years ago! Now I have the Philco bug, which is worse because you can find them alot easier than most makes. Though the prices can be fluctuate wildly. Found a working Philco 95 today, but it was $295. Too much for my retail worker budget. Also found a Philco 20 consolette near Cleveland for $30. Price is right, but I am not good at traveling. Panic/anxiety disorder. Icon_confused If I do get a trailer to set up for radios, I might dedicate it totally to Philcos! Icon_lol

I'd take you up on that offer if I lived closer and had a better vehicle. I'm not good at doing long distances with this panic disorder I suffer with. Thanks for the offer though, I appreciate it! Icon_smile
