New to the Phorum
Hi there, everyone! I am new to the Phorum here and want to introduce myself. When I first started into antique radios about 10 years ago, I was not a Philco fan. I was one of the types who wanted Zenith radios and fancy radios, mentally putting Philcos at the bottom of the heap. Then I got a Philco 42-322 for $10 at a local flea market that is still working on its original capacitors and electrolytics. After that, things kinda snowballed. In the past two years my Philco collection has grown to 19 radios, far outnumbering the other makes in my collection. The prices of Zenith radios have turned me off and every time I look for a Zenith, I come home with a Philco!

Re: New to the Phorum
Welcome to the Phorum! There's plenty of knowledge around here, I've learned alot from some of the best technicians / restorers in the world. If the experts here can't answer your radio questions, you may as well just throw it away because it can't be fixed.

Re: New to the Phorum
Welcome Jayce. I'm no tech whiz either but this is sure the right place to learn the ins and outs of Philcos.

Indeed, welcome, Jayce. Sounds like you got "the bug".

Bill Cahill Wrote:Indeed, welcome, Jayce. Sounds like you got "the bug".Yeah, I got the radio bug a little over 10 years ago! Now I have the Philco bug, which is worse because you can find them alot easier than most makes. Though the prices can be fluctuate wildly. Found a working Philco 95 today, but it was $295. Too much for my retail worker budget. Also found a Philco 20 consolette near Cleveland for $30. Price is right, but I am not good at traveling. Panic/anxiety disorder. I'd take you up on that offer if I lived closer and had a better vehicle. I'm not good at doing long distances with this panic disorder I suffer with. Thanks for the offer though, I appreciate it!
