Watching "Pawn Stars"...
...with my partner and his parents, and a guy brought in a Philco 41-290 for sale!
They couldn't figure out why I screamed "NO!" when he plugged it in and turned it on... Needless to say, it worked pretty well. I think the pawn shop offered him $150 for it, and I don't recall if he took it or not. That having been said, my partner and I got a quick look at the radio cabinet for a half-second during the teaser... he turned to me and said, "Philco?" I said, "yeah, '40, '41, or '42... 200-series regardless of which year." I then proceeded to explain why the faceplate was warped and the brass strip had popped out in a couple of places. |

Re: Watching "Pawn Stars"...
I think that Rick offered him $100 and then they settled on $150, overly generous in my opinion but perhaps the set working played a factor in his decision, I can't say that the cabinet style appealed to me personally. He did mention that he usually needs to send them out for refinishing and typically sells them for $250-300 afterward.
