Re: Jukebox?
I was just wondering how or if royalties wer collected based on how many times a particular song was played, or was that covered when the record was purchased?

I think that was covered when the record was purchased. It is an interesting thing to ponder since the person running the jukebox was (eventually) making money from the songs. No matter where you go, there you are. |

Re: Jukebox?
I think that the royalty issue may have been taken care of by the vending machine company keeping the machine in service, who also supplied the records, I don't know about restaurant owners who owned their own machines. Then again maybe the laws were different back then, since they weren't being played over the air. These days, at least in Canada, an establishment can buy a license from an outfit called SOCAN that allows them to play whatever they want, not sure how it works elsewhere.
