Re: Merry Christmas
I wish that the tubes would glow a bit brighter, but maybe that's a good thing because they draw a LOT of current. The tree is made entirely of spare electronic parts. It was a fun project.

Re: Merry Christmas
If I had any blue tubes, I sure wouldn't use them to decorate a tree.

Re: Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas season Motorola Man! Thanks for that photo! I am now officially in the Christmas Spirit! Your spare tubes tree looks great! I actually have a good Arcturus Blue glass #80 rectifier tube here in a old Fada set that would make a nice Angel on top of your tree! Bet your tree looks great with the lights off in your house after dark!! Icon_clap

Re: Merry Christmas
So, I have to find out what happened to the case of 6BN6 I bought years ago. Actually not all that useless, but 25 of 'em would make a nice series string for my holiday tree. I'll let you know if I do it.

Have some even less important things to do first, like answer a few more posts here.

But Merry All Things to everyone!

Re: Merry Christmas
For a nice 2- tube Christmas Tree, a 70L7 & a 25B8 GT in series works great Codefox! The tubes are kinda expensive though! The filaments running on our modern 125 v. ac , no prob! These early sets and tubes filaments had a very wide/ broad tolerance indeed! Only takes 2 tubes in series just like the old 2 tube Arvin metal sets. And you can build a complete AM Radio receiver with only using those 2 tubes also with only 1..." I.F". Can and a simple Antenna coil! Gotta use a longwire antenna with it though! Study the construction of a 25B8 ( 2 tubes in one) in your tube manual. 2 Tube Arvins Metal Midget sets used to be won at Carnivals by contests, or won by punch cards games giveaways back in the good old days! Arvin used these old small metal midgets sets to sell their bigger Radios as a promotion only. You probably know all this old news already about Noblitt Sparks Industries simple 2-tube radios, but it only takes 2 tubes to light a Christmas Tree sometimes! The more tubes the Better! Wanted to wish you a very Happy & Merry Christmas from Texas!! The "reason for the Season" indeed!

(I merged the two "Merry Christmas" threads into one.)

And a very Merry Christmas to you too, Joe, and to everyone here on the Phorum! I'll post my traditional online Christmas Card later.
