Re: Newest Addition to the Family
My Mustang has a 4.0 litre cast iron V6 rated at 210 hp, and has an EPA mileage rating of 25 mpg highway. It is supposed to do 0-60 in 6.9 seconds, but I haven't tried that...and I don't think I will.
The 2011 models introduced a new 3.7 litre aluminum V6 that produces 305 hp...and bumps the highway mileage up to 31 mpg. The newer V6 models also received a dual exhaust...something my 2007 model does not have. In the GT models, the 4.6 V8 was replaced by a new aluminum 5.0 litre V8 in 2011. The Shelby GT500 continues to use a 5.4 litre DOHC V8, and the horsepower was bumped up from 500 to 550. The 5.4 in the Shelby had an iron block and aluminum heads in its 2007 debut; the 5.4 is now all-aluminum. A quick look at the Ford website reveals that the numbers for the 2012 models are identical to the 2011 Mustangs. There is also a new "Boss 302" model to go along with the V6, the 5.0 GT and the Shelby GT500. -- Ron Ramirez Ferdinand, IN |

Re: Newest Addition to the Family
We've had our 98 Cobra Mustang for 12 years now with the all AL, 4 overhead cam, hand built V8. It is the car we take on long distance road trips. The only significant mod was changing the rear axel from 3.23 to 3.73, which gave us another mile per gal, for about 27mpg hwy and overall better performance.

Re: Newest Addition to the Family
What a gorgeous profile. I've always love the fastback quarter windows. The retro Chevs and Dodges look good, but the Mustang is the best looking homage to an original yet IMO.

Re: Newest Addition to the Family
I like the looks of the newer retro styled Mustangs, much nicer looking then the late Fox bodied ones, what I don't like about these, or any other modern car, is that they use too much plastic everywhere. In terms of power cars I like my 1975 Chrysler Newport, while it is from the smog era with a detuned engine that 440 still puts out a ridiculous amount of power and torque. That Newport is like flying a plane a foot above the ground.

Re: Newest Addition to the Family
Very nice car Ron, congratulations!
I really liked your Roadmaster for radio hauling, I hope you can somehow keep it for a while longer. John Lexington, KY |
