Unknown cap and no schematic, help
I picked up a AJA Type 5842, Grundig type tube radio, manufactured by a West German manufacturer circa 50's. Cannot find a schematic so I blindly jumped in and replaced electrolytics and all paper caps. While doing so I came upon what looks like a cap, about 3/4" long 1/4" thick, ovate in shape with shiny enamellike coating in black similar to "orange drops", marked 0.01 ___, 120V, 116Mn (after .01 the enamel is worn through). Resistance either direction off scale for meg ohm. DMM capacity varies but around .009. Since this is the only cap of this configuration I was wondering if its an electrolytic although at .01 I don't think so. Also may be .015 or whatever. Do you think I'd be safe replcing with a .01 Mfd orange dip? Any help would be appreciated. PL

Doubt the original was electrolytic at that low value. I would go ahead and install the new .01 Orange Drop.
