Howdy from Texas
Hello friends, It's been awhile! Hope everyone is doing well ! Staying busy here as usual in my shop repairing customers sets in my spare times. Next up on my workbenches are some of Philco's popular models, all need new point-to-point wiring, among all the other usual problems associated restoring these old sets. I have recently received in for full electronics restorations, Philco's popular models 40-180, another 41-280 (who designed those bandswitches?), 42-358, & a 42-380x. I will be very busy for the next few months indeed. Not before I take next week off for a vacation though. The wife & I are going to do some travelling across Tejas for the next week and visit old friends. Will be lots of fun. We will also be looking for old radios to add to our collection, but as the others we have collected, I probably won't have time to ever restore them while servicing others sets first. I miss all my friends here and will check in when time allows. Have a great 4th of July everyone!!

RE: Howdy from Texas
Have a fun trip Tex. I realized just how big Texas is a couple weeks ago when I picked up a rust-free Land Cruiser in El Paso to drive back to MN.
Love that west Texas 80 mph speed limit.

RE: Howdy from Texas
Thanks Uffda!! Will be nice getting away for a few days. If your ever out in West Texas again, drop by if you can. Will treat you to some great Texas hospitality. Our State is massive in size, we don't travel across our State by miles here, we determine the distances by hours. Most folks don't realize that Texas is so big. For example, it is the same distance from Texarkana to El Paso, as it is from Texaarkana to Chicago give a few miles. Same area applies from Corpus Christi to Amarillo. When I visit Ohio, all those States up there are so much smaller in size in the Midwest. Crossing State lines up that way is like crossing county lines in Texas. Enjoy your new rust-free Land Cruiser!! Those are great vehicles indeed!! Plenty of room for Console radios in the back of those! Enjoy!!!

Looks like you will be up to your _____ in rubber wire repairs with those early 40s Philcos.

RE: Howdy from Texas
Yes sir TA, There will be plenty of all new point-to-point wiring in my near future indeed. Goes with the territory in restoring these models sets indeed. I charge accordingly to make it worth while for both me and the customers and it is costly, but well worth the investment and time invested. No patchwork here in my shop, we do it right or we don't do it at all.

RE: Howdy from Texas
Hey, glad all is well. Would like to hear you sometime soon on the radio. I do tune in most Friday nights on inernet, but Bllooimberg Radio blocks 1030 in my area even with a nulling loop. You can tape your converstaion at a time convenient to you, say 20 miutes or so back and forth for replay in the future. Hobby or half a** self liquidating business for him too I reckon.

Give Paul a call. We all would like to hear your rants. I have advised him to try to take guests interviews at their convenience and work it into his show Fridays. Cannot make 1330 here in New York either because of Bloomberg Radio. Bad on WRCA too, but really nice web feed through.

Up late? Get the news in Chinglish from China and Taiwan around 9.6 MHZ AM on a very old Philco set . Actually, diction is quite good.
