The only RCA info I would have would be in Rider's Manuals. You would need to find someone with the RCA Red Books.
I guess you can consider Chuck and I as neighbors, if you consider 381 miles as close. (I've noticed that Evansville, Indiana, where I live, is often confused with Evanston, Illinois, where Chuck lives.) -- Ron Ramirez Ferdinand, IN |

We wouldn't be if Indianapolis (our state capitol) had their way...they're on Eastern and wanted ALL of Indiana on Eastern, which is ridiculous from a geographical point of view...all of Indiana SHOULD be on Central, but that will never happen, unfortunately.

Time zones
All of the 76 years I'vce been around, Michigan has been on eastern Standard time. My father had told me that Michigan had once been on Central Standard time, but around the time I came along, it was changed to Eastern time. Sure enough, I got an old radio log from about 1928, nd there it was: the time zone line running along the east border of the state! The reason for it was for Detroit to be on the same time as Wall Street. Follow the money!
We just recently went off of daylight time, which corresponded to Central Staandard time. From that, it's easy to see that the daylight hours are balanced better than they are now. I wish that 1) we were on CST and 2) we never get onto daylight saving time. But, wishing is for losers. |

Doug I was born in Tennessee just northwest of Knoxville and the line for EST/CST ran nearby to my grandparents house so in their house part of the clocks were on cst time and part were on est time. I forget how they referred to the time as but it was always a treat remembering which clock represented the time I was used to.

Doug - the powers that be in Indianapolis follow the same reasoning as you mentioned about Detroit - to be on the same time zone as New York.
What's really odd about Indiana is that most of the state was Eastern Standard year-round, with no daylight saving time. Indiana begins observing daylight saving time statewide next spring. Our little corner of the state, as well as the area close to Chicago, has been on Central time for several years as well as observing daylight saving time. If any of you folks travel to IHRS swap meets, you should keep this in mind. -- Ron Ramirez Ferdinand, IN |

And in my geographic area, I found it interesting that EST extends as far west as Thunder Bay, Ontario (which defies any and all logic - so they could be in the same time zone as Toronto?), and Isle Royal National Park (which is part of Michigan, but is closer to Minnesota - go figure).

IHRS meets
The IHRS used to have some pretty nice meets. I went to several of them when they were easier for me to get to.
They had one in Plymouth, Indiana which was a loser, then they darted off to somewhere else, and now, they're stuck in Kokomo. It's not that bad to get to, but when thay were on the main line (I-69), they were within easy reach of most people, so it seemed. I haven't been to one since about 4 years ago. Too much traveling on minor roads for a one day meet. Then too, they were jerking the auction around, and not having it for attendees some years. |
