(Some small\u00ader radio mak\u00aders had already begun offer\u00ading \"midget\" radios; the term \"cathe\u00addral\" or \"bee\u00adhive\" would not come into use until decades lat\u00ader, when they became col\u00adlectible items.)<\/p>\n<p>At the price of $49.50 less tubes, reach\u00ading the mar\u00adket ten months after the 1929 stock mar\u00adket crash which marked the begin\u00adning of the Great Depres\u00adsion, it was an instant hit; mak\u00ading Philco the num\u00adber one radio man\u00adu\u00adfac\u00adtur\u00ader in the indus\u00adtry. Philco would remain the top radio mak\u00ader in the <span class=\"caps\">USA<\/span> until after World War&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">II<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>In Octo\u00adber, Philco took the \"econ\u00ado\u00admy\" radio idea a step fur\u00adther, intro\u00adduc\u00ading a new, small con\u00adsole which was dubbed the \"Baby Grand Con\u00adsole.\" The new mod\u00adel con\u00adtained the same chas\u00adsis and speak\u00ader as did the Mod\u00adel 20 Baby Grand (cathe\u00addral).<\/p>\n<p>Through\u00adout this time, the Philco mod\u00adels which were put on the mar\u00adket in June 1930 remained available.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Model_Index\"><\/span>Model Index<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>All June 1930 mod\u00adels remained in the Philco lineup.<\/p>\n<p><em>Click on a thumb\u00adnail to see infor\u00adma\u00adtion and pho\u00adtos for each&nbsp;model:<\/em><\/p>\n<table class=\"model-index-table\" style=\"border: none;
