Mod\u00adel 41 and the Con\u00adcert Grand were dis\u00adcon\u00adtin\u00adued. Most ver\u00adsions of Mod\u00adels 30 and 77 remained in the line except for the Mod\u00adel 30 high\u00adboy and the Mod\u00adel 77 table mod\u00adel. Some changes were made to the cathe\u00addral and con\u00adsole ver\u00adsions of the Mod\u00adel 20. Mod\u00adels 96 and 296 also remained available.<\/p>\n<p>The big news in the New Year of 1931 was Super\u00adhetero\u00addyne. The Super\u00adhetero\u00addyne cir\u00adcuit had been devel\u00adoped by one of radio's great\u00adest inven\u00adtors, Major Edwin Howard Arm\u00adstrong. Through\u00adout the 1920s, the Radio Cor\u00adpo\u00adra\u00adtion of Amer\u00adi\u00adca (<span class=\"caps\">RCA<\/span>) had com\u00adplete con\u00adtrol over the super\u00adhetero\u00addyne patent, refus\u00ading to license oth\u00ader man\u00adu\u00adfac\u00adtur\u00aders to use this supe\u00adri\u00ador cir\u00adcuit. Fol\u00adlow\u00ading a 1930 law\u00adsuit, how\u00adev\u00ader, <span class=\"caps\">RCA<\/span> began to license oth\u00ader radio mak\u00aders to use the circuit.<\/p>\n<p>Philco's first super\u00adhetero\u00addyne, Mod\u00adel 111, was intro\u00adduced to the pub\u00adlic in Jan\u00adu\u00adary 1931. With 11 tubes, <span class=\"caps\">AVC<\/span> and a local-dis\u00adtance switch, this was tru\u00adly a super-deluxe set in its time; espe\u00adcial\u00adly the Mod\u00adel 211 radio-phono\u00adgraph ver\u00adsion with its Cape\u00adhart auto\u00admat\u00adic record changer.<\/p>\n<p>Speak\u00ading of radio-phono\u00adgraphs, Philco added anoth\u00ader radio-phono\u00adgraph com\u00adbi\u00adna\u00adtion on the low\u00ader end of the line\u00adup, using the Mod\u00adel 20 chassis.<\/p>\n<p>In March 1931, Mod\u00adel 20 was dis\u00adcon\u00adtin\u00adued and replaced with Mod\u00adel 21, which con\u00adsist\u00aded of a slight\u00adly revised chas\u00adsis using two Type 45 out\u00adput tubes in place of the <span class=\"caps\">71A<\/span> tubes used in Mod\u00adel 20. The new set was avail\u00adable in a com\u00adplete\u00adly new Baby Grand cab\u00adi\u00adnet which was the fore\u00adrun\u00adner of the pop\u00adu\u00adlar Mod\u00adel 70 and 90 Baby Grand mod\u00adels which would fol\u00adlow a few months lat\u00ader. Philco also intro\u00adduced a new DC-only set, Mod\u00adel 46, which was sim\u00adi\u00adlar in cir\u00adcuit\u00adry to Mod\u00adel 20 and also housed in the new Baby Grand cabinet.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Model_Index\"><\/span>Model Index<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The fol\u00adlow\u00ading 1930 mod\u00adels were dis\u00adcon\u00adtin\u00adued: 20 Baby Grand, 20 Con\u00adsole, 30 High\u00adboy, 77 Con\u00adsole, Con\u00adcert Grand.
