Philco for 1933 (introduced June 1933)<\/h2>\n

Philco's new 1933 line of radios includ\u00aded 25 all-new mod\u00adels, along with 16 mod\u00adels car\u00adried over from the pre\u00advi\u00adous sea\u00adson, for a total of 41 dif\u00adfer\u00adent mod\u00adels to choose from.<\/p>\n

Philco's largest Baby Grand up to that time used 11 tubes and cov\u00adered AM<\/span> and short\u00adwave from 520 kc to 23 mc in five bands. Mod\u00adel 16 even inclu\u00adid\u00aded a squelch con\u00adtrol to cut back\u00adground nois\u00ades while tun\u00ading. The squelch could be turned on and off by a tog\u00adgle switch on the side pan\u00adel, and the squelch thresh\u00adold was con\u00adtrolled by a poten\u00adtiome\u00adter mount\u00aded in back of the set.<\/p>\n

It was not a pop\u00adu\u00adlar set and did not sell very well in any of its ver\u00adsions, as most peo\u00adple who could afford an eleven-tube set opt\u00aded for the Mod\u00adel 16 instead.<\/p>\n
