{"id":877,"date":"2017-02-12T20:54:47","date_gmt":"2017-02-12T20:54:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lostlacquer.site\/?page_id=877"},"modified":"2017-02-12T20:54:47","modified_gmt":"2017-02-12T20:54:47","slug":"1942a","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/philcoradio.com\/gallery2\/1942a\/","title":{"rendered":"1942 (June&nbsp;1941)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Philco for 1942 (introduced June&nbsp;1941)<\/h2>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Overview\"><\/span>Overview<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The new 1942 Philco line was made up of most\u00adly mild facelifts and small changes to sets, plus the addi\u00adtion of new mod\u00adel numbers.<\/p>\n<p>Fre\u00adquen\u00adcy Mod\u00adu\u00adla\u00adtion (<span class=\"caps\">FM<\/span>) had been avail\u00adable since 1940, but Philco did not make any radios capa\u00adble of receiv\u00ading <span class=\"caps\">FM<\/span> until the start of their 1942 sell\u00ading sea\u00adson. The <span class=\"caps\">FM<\/span> fea\u00adture was includ\u00aded in many of their high\u00ader-end radios. Philco's <span class=\"caps\">FM<\/span> cir\u00adcuit was designed to cir\u00adcum\u00advent the Arm\u00adstrong patents, and did not receive <span class=\"caps\">FM<\/span> with the full fideli\u00adty that Armstrong's cir\u00adcuits did. Like all pre\u00adwar <span class=\"caps\">FM<\/span> radios, the Philco <span class=\"caps\">FM<\/span> sets received a band that became obso\u00adlete dur\u00ading the war: 42 to 50 mc. Since World War <span class=\"caps\">II<\/span>, <span class=\"caps\">FM<\/span> has oper\u00adat\u00aded in the 88 to 108 mc&nbsp;band.<\/p>\n<p>Philco's high\u00ader-end phono\u00adgraphs con\u00adtin\u00adued to use their exclu\u00adsive Beam of Light pick\u00adup head. Their auto\u00admat\u00adic record chang\u00aders added a slow\u00ader speed - 39 rpm. These two speed chang\u00aders proved trou\u00adble\u00adsome, and after the war, Philco mar\u00adket\u00aded a con\u00adver\u00adsion kit to change the two-speed 1942 chang\u00aders into sin\u00adgle speed (78 rpm) rim&nbsp;drive.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Model_Index\"><\/span>Model Index<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The fol\u00adlow\u00ading mod\u00adels con\u00adtin\u00adued in the Philco line\u00adup: 41-22CL (as 42-22CL), 41-90CB (as 42-121CB), 41-601P (as 42-1001P), 41-620P (as 42-620P), <span class=\"caps\">PT-2<\/span> (as <span class=\"caps\">42-PT2<\/span>), <span class=\"caps\">PT-4<\/span> (as <span class=\"caps\">42-PT4<\/span>), <span class=\"caps\">PT-10<\/span> (as <span class=\"caps\">42-PT10<\/span>), <span class=\"caps\">PT-25<\/span> (as <span class=\"caps\">42-PT25<\/span>), <span class=\"caps\">PT-26<\/span> (as <span class=\"caps\">42-PT26<\/span>), <span class=\"caps\">PT-87<\/span> (as <span class=\"caps\">42-PT87<\/span>), <span class=\"caps\">RP-6<\/span> (as <span class=\"caps\">42-RP6<\/span>).
