Philco for 1949<\/h2>\n

<\/span>Overview<\/span><\/h3>\n

Philco offered a low\u00ader num\u00adber of radios for the 1949 sea\u00adson, but this mod\u00adel year includes a few sets that have become high\u00adly col\u00adlectible in recent years.<\/p>\n

The LP<\/span> record was intro\u00adduced in 1948, and Philco took advan\u00adtage of this by offer\u00ading a num\u00adber of radio-phono\u00adgraphs that could play the new LPs. They also offered a unit that could be attached to any radio or radio-phono\u00adgraph, upon which the new records could be played (Mod\u00adel M-15).<\/p>\n

Even in the ear\u00adly years of the post\u00adwar TV<\/span> boom, Philco was still mak\u00ading floor mod\u00adel radio-phonographs.<\/p>\n

This was their entry-lev\u00adel mod\u00adel for 1949.<\/p>\n

The 1600 uses five tubes and receives the AM<\/span> band. It includes a sin\u00adgle-speed (78 rpm) record changer.<\/p>\n

The 1601 includes a two-speed (33-1\/3 and 78 rpm) record play\u00ader with two tone arms (one for LP<\/span>, one for 78). It is oth\u00ader\u00adwise iden\u00adti\u00adcal to the 1600.<\/p>\n
