Then again, I never worked on a heck of a whole lot.

Well, they are not that different after all....except for AK usin 58 tubes everywhere, same thing...

 Edison radios don't appear to be anything exotic, Edison bought out Splitdorf around 1927-28 (and overpaid for the company) after the old man retired and the son took over. From what I can see they are pretty much your standard TRF circuit with typical late 1920s and early 30s AC tubes.
