Extra Dark Walnut overall including the trim in front (top, bottom, left and right); the front panel itself is Medium Walnut.
Radio Daze DCL-PH8 PHILCO decal.
Careful, that dark inlay on the front panel (looks like dark brown stripes) is real wood veneer, and is very soft and easily damaged.

Beautiful. You did a good job, and the colors are correct. Two thumbs up from the Old Man.
Was the old grille cloth too far gone to save? It looked OK in your "before" photo, but I know that things often look better in photos than they really are.

It was too filthy and fragile to put back in this beauty, the new is close enough and looks great in there,I also used it on the 3118 I finished about a week ago. Thanks for the nice words Ron!

It looks great philco but i am one for helpful criticism. If left unsaid you will not think to do it in the future.
The cabinet really should have been grain filled. if you did then it should have been gone over again so zero grain lines can be seen.
That is only for originality. The pieces looks great otherwise.
If you didn't throw away the old grill cloth I would buy it. It can always be saved... well most times.
Does she play as good as she looks?
I have the little brother but would love an 18B some day.

Kirk

From what I have seen with grill cloth, no, it is not always that it can be saved. Sometimes you touch it and it falls apart. Plus it might be discolored to the point that even if you can spray it with something to stabilize, the color will be gone. And spraying might increase the resistance to air movement through it, so not only acoustic might suffer but the cloth itself will be subjected to extra pressure which, considering it fragility, will not add to its longevity.
I guess it depends on how it was kept all these years.
The radio looks great, the colors are exactly like they look on museum quality pieces. The grain....this is where real connosseurs come in to judge, I am not one of them.
I say, great looking piece. Hat's off.

You won't like it Fred, all refinished, all new veneer except for the inlay,new/not original grill cloth, doubt you'd buy it.
All that was necessary because it sat out in the Sierra mountains for two years and was falling apart when I got it.
