All, I'm on the final stretch of my 610 restoration and have a dial  question.  My dial is in relatively good shape but I'm missing the black part that's shown below.  Has anyone made one or is it even necessary?  I suspect it is designed to stay stationary while the dial moves.
Thanks,
Keith
Here are some more pictures of the broken black part of the dial scale.  I'm not sure if I should fabricate a new one or just leave it off.

I have a 610 and don't think I have ever seen one of those. At least my radio doesn't have one. Looks like it might be some sort of light shield to prevent light from leaking from around the tuning knob.

Certainly does not appear to be a critical part as I have never missed having one.
Thanks Mondial, I too was thinking it might be a light shield. If no one else has one then it must not be important.

I've seen them before in 620 and 630 models, and the bare space *might* show in the escutcheon if the black piece isn't there. I do not remember as the only 1936 Philcos I own now are the early and late 116B sets, and I do not believe they have a plastic piece like that.

If it doesn't show, no need to worry about it.

Edit: I have to clarify - I forgot my 630 chassis in a 610T cabinet. Icon_redface As I recall, it does not have that piece.
My 620 doesn't have thee black piece neither,,,,
