I just finished restoring a Philco Model 60 cathedral, and it works great an the AM Band. I have not done an alignment, though I did adjust the compensating condenser in the 6A7 oscillator circuit. It was motorboading badly when I brought it to life. After adjusting the condenser, it works great!

However, when I switch to the SW band I hear AM stations though they are weaker. I really don't care about the SW band, but I am haunted knowing that the radio is imperfect.

Where would I start to troubleshoot the SW band?

Thanks!

1. As for motorboat, check that on shielded tubes the grid cap wire that is intended to be inside the shield is indeed inside.
2. SW comes much better during night hours.
