I am wondering where I can get the diagram for dial belt procedure and needing to know if there is a clip that holds the tuning shaft in place. THIS ON 118 CATHRDRAL, A FEWS PICS . The tuning shaft pulls right out, shouldn't there be a clip holding it in place? The wooden pulley is just above it , not sure on how to or direction on belt (How to wind) ) What is the best belt or string to use so it doesn't slip that easy? I have spent an hour sometimes trying to figure out direction for belt on those pulleys, I can do it but figured asking mite save me some time. The dial is off and I do know that each end of string or belt meets at each side of dial pulley and has a spring for tension.
Thank you Ron, that's helps but my radio has 3 pulleys. It mentions 49 and 118 have deferent dial drive with upper pulley being separate from tuning shaft like mine is but should be strung the same, how can you string it the same with a extra pulley Icon_crazy . My tuning shaft is sloppy and pulls right out , is there a keeper clip that holds it, doesn't seem to have a groove for a clip Icon_crazy I mite have to shim or sleeve the shaft so its not wobbly , needs to be snug right? with a keeper clip?( The shaft that the knob goes on pulls out and is sloppy)
May take a little time but I will figure it out.
I figured it out , the belt tension on the wooden pulley which pivots on and arm rides against the free spinning tuning shaft. Yes it is deferent than the illustration and never mentions that, other than it says its somewhat different for models 118. There is no clip holding shaft in place the, the wooded pulleys tension against shaft holds it in place.
