The PHILCO Phorum

Mine is kinda ripped. It is still in one piece but I think it is on its last leg.
What kind is it? Daze sells several types.

  I think it uses one of the thicker types of cord, I remember reading about one  more local source in Ron's restoration notes I think.

It's core clad in outer layer. The core's white, the jacketing black. Dunno if it is 30 mil or 40 mil. Not sure which one to buy from wbat Daze has.

  You could also try a store that sells braided fish line, sometimes it's called fly line backing, I bought one version of it from Walmart in their sporting goods section. Maybe the line I was thinking of before was the thicker stuff used in sets like the Philco model 96, 111, etc?

 Can you post a pic of the pulleys and dial cord routing? I missing something here I didn't think dial cord was used but I never had that model apart yet.

 GC Electronics lists heavy dial cord as 0.062 " thick , med 0.040" and thin was .028" That info was from a 1954 radio catalogue. The Philco info says thick dial cord was used.

You know, if you have a micrometer ( or even a rule) you can usually measure the opening on the pulley the cord goes into to get an idea of the thickness of the cord that fits.

Thanx guys, yeah I guess I could guesstimate the diameter. As long as the kind of rope they sell is the same clad cord.

It's a possibility. Any non-slippery reliable line should work, I guess.
