Hi to all, newbie to this forum.......

I am working on this 37-610 and the speaker mounting cardboard is a bit flimsy and dried out with age.......is there a resource for a new board or do you have to make it yourself?

Cheers, Steve

Hello!!

Unfortunately Terry is right.
You will have to work something out yourself.
I know there are materials you can use but I cant remember what it is called...

Thanks!
Welcome, I have used the board inside the old 3 ring note book binders. It is about the right thickness, now on your console I don't know if the binder board will be large enough.
I think some guys here have used something from Hobby Lobby or a place like that.
One other option if you're Photoshop inclined - what I've been doing is to scan the original and use Ponoko.com to laser-cut a reproduction from cardboard or hardboard (depending on the original thickness).

I described the process here:
http://philcoradio.com/phorum/showthread.php?tid=12755

I've created grille cloth boards for:
  • Philco 16B 'shouldered' tombstone
  • Philco 16B 'peaked' tombstone
  • Philco 45C
  • Philco 70/90
  • Philco 37-650B
  • Philco 37-2670B
  • Silvertone 4565

It also works for missing radio backs. I've made those for a 41-226C and 48-225 so far.

Yes - it's overkill, but maybe if it's interesting to you it's a fun related project in its own right.
