I know....sounds weird doesn't it?

The above radio was given to me or it would've had a date with a landfill if I didn't take it. The label says "16" but the chassis has yet to be found in my Rider books. I emailed Chuck Schwark and I'm awaiting a reply from him. But I figured I'd throw it out to the mavens on this site and possibly get a few answers...

This circuit is very similiar to the first 16 shown in Nastalgia Air here....

With the exception of part 75 e-cap (which was never present on my chassis and the value is not known) and that the two other e-caps (87 and 88) in the lower right hand corner of the chassis are a bit different also. One e-cap (87) seems correct but the other (88) is a two-section cap in my chassis but is notated as a one section ecap on the print.

In another print, Model 16 Code 125 and 126, part number 91 is shown as a 2 section cap while 98 is shown as a single cap. The non existant ecap on my chassis (75) in the earlier print is now notated as part 73 and is a 4 section cap. See here....

I hope I've explained this well enough. I doubt if there is no print for this particular chassis it's just that I haven't found it yet. And yes, the radio works very well on all bands but the power supply, as it exists now, is slowly shorting out. (typical) 13 Boats to restore....this one's gonna take a while.

Thanks for the input....

Hi Jim,

Any chance that the 'Changes in Models' document available here explains it:

http://www.philcoradio.com/phorum/showth...hp?tid=215

Philco made changes over the course of production - especially true for long-lived models like the 16.
Hi Nathan......

Bingo! The changeover is mentioned whereby part 88 and 75 are combined into one, two sectioned e-cap. And it's what I have. If I hadn't of looked at the parts placement pictorial, I just would've seen the schematic and went with that. Actually, the 16B that another poster is talking about is just about the same as mine.

Thanx, and a hat tip.....

...Jim
Great! Glad to help.

Really all credit goes to Ron for making that document available!
