I picked up a Philco 49-504 radio in hopes of restoring. The radio has had caps and resistor changes some 40 years ago and wire changes as well. I downloaded the riders schematic and saw pictures of other 49-504 chassis restores and i see parts not in my set? The biggest thing i see is the 3 section filter cap mine is a 2 section and other parts not under my chassis? Any help would be great...

Click on 1949 and then PQR go to pg 164
Much better scan than NA.
Original circuit has three filter caps as does yours.
Thank you that should help out. Icon_angel
Well I am stuck again I downloaded the schematic from Nostalgia Air and on the alignment page figure 7 it shows the dial cord layout but does not mention whether  the tuning condenser is closed or open when putting a new cord on. Also wonder why Philco used 2 dial strings on this because most all other table radios use one? The diagram is difficult to see exact layouts, I've tried everything????? Any help?

Hello. According to Sams dial string dia. The tuning gang should be fully closed.
Hi, do you have a copy of the sams dial string diagram? The diagram I have doesn’t show the springs or a clear view of the diagrams?
Here's the Sams image:

and a better image of the Riders schematic:
