Working on a model 71.  My questions is about part # 21, the filter condenser bank (05324).  My old Philco parts list indicates the metal case capacitors (05324) as having a 1200 volt “test voltage.”  I know normally, use same voltage or higher rating caps but as this is “test voltage”, would a lower voltage work safely?  Bottom line….what would you recommend?  I’ve got plenty of 600 volt orange drops….not so much, caps in the 1.2kv range. Ha

Thanks!

Use your 600 volt orange drops.

Nothing in that 71 can produce anything close to 12OOV.

Thanks Ed, for the reply.  I suspected that the 1.2kv was and extreme, but still, better to ask and be safe!

Thanks for the "welcome" to the forum.  Sort of got away from the old sets for a few years.  Happened on this 71 that had all it's knobs and cabinet in pretty good shape...and the price was right.  The down side is, once I pulled the chassis, I found someone had previously done a clip and solder job on most of the caps. No resistors replaced and wires clipped and dangling....you know those sets....the hack jobs.  This one's going to take some time, but just couldn't stand to see it hit the junk pile.

Thanks again for the help!
