"Octals?"

Yes.... the larger glass tubes with the larger bases and up to 8 pins. Neither schematic that David just sent can be it...the one has 7-pin miniature tubes....the other has SIX octals...yours only has 5.

The "miniature" schematic also has octals listed below the miniature numbers.....never seen that before....so it might be your schmatic.

Jake take a look at the Hallicrafters series S-38D an S-38E  8pin vs 7pin tubes . the cabinets are different but the only real difference under the hood are the tubes. Marketing at its finest!! Have a Happy New Year.
